what is this website about.
In short it is all about wrought iron designs. Decorative gates, railings, Juliet balconies. I had this crazy idea a few years ago, what if you could teach people the basic idea of wrought iron design. Allowing them to design there own. so they can have something that is perhaps very different from the same old boring designs that are commonly available on the internet. Something different but without it carrying the usual massive custom made price tag.
Ok if you want some nice designs the likes of Pinterest has some fantastic ones there. The trouble with many of those designs is they are fantastic. Which is why they make it onto the site. This means someone spent a long time making them. Which means the person that ordered them had deep pockets. So to copy the design is going to be expensive. After all no one is going to spend £100 on materials, and two days making a handrail and charge £250.
What you need is something that starts from a basic railing, and works its way up in detail. For every detail that is added you know the additional cost above that of a basic railing or gate. No shocks or surprises when it comes to the price. In principle it is simple enough, in practice it is a little more difficult. At least to get it on a website and make it understandable with out it being complicated. No one wants to feel like they are studying for a PhD in Astro Physics, when all they want to do is come up with a nice gate or railing design.
Rather than clutter up the main website Ironworks-crawley.co.uk, I decide to register the domain ironworks-crawley.uk. This would allow me space to develop the idea. It would also provide a “dumping” place for a lot of old CAD drawings done over the years, for wrought iron designs. These are good examples of what can be done. They can also be used as examples in the wrought iron design tutorials.
