I realise that video is the answer but not the whole answer. You still have to back it up with a written copy. You are going to need reference material to use and possibly print out. I am duplicating my work load. A written copy on the website and a video copy. It is perhaps not all bad as each page can be the script for a video. I think this means breaking down each video into a 10 minute unit. Which kind of makes them bite size. As much as i dislike the idea of adverts, Youtube is the answer for hosting as it costs me nothing.
This sort of mean i am starting again, some of what is already written may not be used and much of it will require rewriting. Funny that the original plan was to make my life easier. Remove the need to spend some of the time spent drawing and designing for customers. By pushing it on to a website allowing them to do their own design work. I get to spend more time making and less time designing and drawing. Allowing me to keep costs down when it comes to a bespoke metal work design.
The truth is, i will spend far more time on this website, than i would have ever spent doing design work over the next 10 years. As even with this website, when complete their will be a certain amount of drawing required.
Because websites are a global, rather than a local. This will no doubt mean people that are outside the local area I work in find this website. Obviously i am not going to be able to help them in terms of making something for them. but there is no reason why they can not use the content within the website to produce their own design and take it to some one local to them.
Lets be very on honest here. If you make bespoke railings there is an element of drawing and design work in it. It may only be 30 minutes on something simple, or it could be several hours work. It might say free design and drawing, but it is not free. Whilst you might not charge the customer directly for it. you just add it to the overall cost of the price of the railings. It is one of the oldest sales tricks in the book. So using the info here and coming up with your own design should allow, for some arguing over the price as they are not doing the design work.
